Ethereum DEX Volume Hits Multi-Year Lows: Ethereum decentralised exchange activity is signaling fatigue as key metrics hit multi-month lows. Ethereum DEX spot volume has tumbled 76% from its $122bn August 2025 peak down to $29bn in July 2026, a level last seen in October 2023 that risks sliding toward five-year lows near $21.2 billion in approximately three months if its 12.5% monthly decline persists. This sharp drop in part stems from capital rotating into lower-cost and faster Layer-1 alternatives and specialised perpetual venues over traditional automated market maker spot pools. Even as infrastructure development advances, this steep volume contraction highlights a pronounced lull in retail and speculative interest across Ethereum-based trading pairs. The resulting drain in liquidity raises key concerns regarding Ethereum’s overall ecosystem health, trader appeal, and immediate market positioning. Rather than an irreversible structural shift, this transient contraction in throughput reflects a cooling phase that will either maintain sideways trading or set the stage for a quick breakout once liquidity returns.
